Marathon training – 11 weeks to go

Oof, where did that week go? There’s not much to report from last week’s training…

Monday: achy and stuff from the weekend’s long run but generally ok, a planned rest day.

Tuesday: right foot starts hurting. Like, really hurting, all up and down the outside edge. I was struggling to even walk to the corner shop! So, an unplanned rest day.

Wednesday: same again. Stabbing pains along my outside arch.  Spent some time stretching and massaging it, but another unplanned rest day.

Thursday: ditto

Friday: ditto, along with several helpings of self pity.

Saturday I made it to the gym in the morning and hallelujah, managed to run! 3km slow and steady and feeling ok.

Sunday I was planning on trying to do my long run of 8 miles, and decided to do it at the gym so I could stop whenever. I only managed 2 miles or so before boring myself to death on the treadmill, which I think was probably for the best.

I’m mostly pain free now thank goodness, but there is some residual soreness. In summer while training for the Indian Queens half I had the same pain (I think in the other foot) and was so worried I went straight to urgent care. Thankfully there were no fractures but it put me out of action for a good few weeks and I had to pull out of that race.

Tonight I ran a steady 5km and, fingers crossed, training is back on track.  Here’s to a good week!
